Following a review process, we at Melbye have progressed from silver to gold in EcoVadis’ sustainability assessment, placing us among the top 5% of the 130,000 companies evaluated globally.

“Achieving gold level is a significant milestone for us and our customers,” says Kristin Melsnes, Group CEO at Melbye.

EcoVadis assesses companies’ sustainability management systems across four key areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. In May 2025, we were initially awarded silver (top 10%), but documented improvements in the review lifted us for the first time to gold (top 5%).

“We have worked purposefully with sustainability, transparency and responsibility for a long time. Receiving gold level is a strong mark of quality and proof that we take responsibility – for the environment, our employees and a sustainable value chain. This is why the ranking matters,” says Melsnes.

In 2024, we made significant progress in our sustainability work, including reducing energy consumption, cutting emissions and improving waste sorting. We have increased the share of products with independent Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and report emissions from transport. In addition, we have set new climate targets for scope 1 and 2.

“We have high ambitions, and we will continue to develop. Our goal is for sustainability to permeate every part of our operations,” says Melsnes.
