Melbye is pleased to announce that Hege Nordahl has been appointed as the new Group CEO, effective from 1 October 2025. She succeeds Kristin Melsnes and joins from her role as Executive Vice President responsible for Transmission & Regional Networks, Product, Strategy, Growth and Innovation.

“If Norway is to regain its position as a leader in power-intensive industries, we must think differently and draw inspiration from other countries and sectors. We see that a holistic systems approach is crucial to achieving our goals from both an industrial and security perspective. There is great focus on energy production, but without power transmission we will not reach our targets. We must think from A to Z, and as an actor positioned in the middle, we want to contribute to a broader dialogue on improvements within the energy system,” says Hege Nordahl, Group CEO of Melbye.

Hege brings extensive leadership experience from the energy and industrial sectors, with a background from McKinsey & Company and Hydro. She has worked both in Norway and internationally and has a deep understanding and experience within oil, gas, and energy. Earlier this year, she joined the executive management team at Melbye, and will now step into the role of Group CEO.

“Melbye is a family-owned company, and the core values on which the company is built resonated with me immediately: that golden eggs don’t just exist — they must be developed; that ownership is temporary; and that change creates security. These principles reflect a drive to challenge, innovate and create value. This mindset is essential for renewal and development, and has been proven through Melbye’s leading position within critical infrastructure for more than 100 years. This aligns perfectly with what I am passionate about, and I look forward to working together with talented colleagues to take the company forward,” she says.

Kristin Melsnes returns to her role on the Board

Since January, Kristin Melsnes has served as Acting Group CEO at Melbye. Her role has been an interim solution, allowing the Board the necessary time and space to carry out a thorough recruitment process. Now that the process is complete, Kristin will return to her position as a Board Member at Melbye.

“The Board has great confidence in the direction we are now taking and in the work being done across the organisation. We have seen the engagement and decisiveness that are evident throughout the company and in Hege’s leadership. We are confident that she will be a strong driving force in developing the company further, and we look forward to the next chapter together,” says Ida Melbye-Larsen, Chair of the Board at Melbye.

“It has been a great pleasure to lead Melbye and to collaborate with so many skilled colleagues. I am confident that the company is now in the best possible hands with Hege as Group CEO. I look forward to continuing to contribute to Melbye’s development in my role as a Board Member,” says Kristin Melsnes, outgoing Group CEO of Melbye.
